Today we are going to look at section 7-4 Solving Proportions on page 356 in the textbook. In order to solve proportions, we must first learn to find the cross products. If you remember back, you worked with equivalent ratios in section 7-1. We said that equivalent ratios are proportional. They are like equivalent fractions.

If you remember there are three ways to tell if fractions and in this case ratios are equivalent. 1. you can reduce them to simplest form. If they are the same, then they are equivalent. 2. You can find a common denominator and make equivalent fractions. If the new fractions are the same, then they are equivalent. 3. ** The new and easy way --- you can cross multiply. By that I mean you take the numerator from the first ratio and multiply it by the denominator in the second ratio. Next, multiply the numerator in the second ratio by the denominator in the first ratio. If both products are the same, the ratios are proportional.

Look at the presentation to go over the examples. (I need your help, I am trying something new and I am not sure how well it will work. I need feedback from you all. Please let me know if this is a better way of going over the lesson. I am trying to get it as close to what we do in the real class.)

Today you have the chance to make up any missed assignments from March 30 to the present. The assignments are due by the end of the 9pm today. You are going to make corrections to your work from yesterday. I have sent comments to let you know which ones are wrong. Send your answers back to me as a "private comment". If you have all the answers correct, please put in your comment "all correct" as your way of checking in with me.
In the first section of the worksheet you have to figure out how many triangles the figure can be divided into and multiply that number by 180 to get the answer.
The second section you use the formula 180 (n-2) divided by n ( in the problem n is the number of sides in the figure) You would take the number of sides and subtract 2 first, then mulitply that answer by 180, then take that answer and divide it by the number of sides.
The last section, you have to determine which names apply to the figure --- use p 240 in your book to help you (both the diagram and the paragraph above it should help you)/.

Attached is a document with the answer to the mystery number you completed on Wednesday of last week. Check your answer. If you did not get it correct, follow the explanation to see how you find the answer. Next, is another document from section 5-4. Use your textbook to look over and review the section then complete #s 2,5,8,9,12, and 15. Place your answers on the attached form.

We are trying to move to our normal school attendance so your homeroom teacher will be asking for that. Some teachers may still do it in every class till we get it all setup. Please pay attention to their directions. Today you are going to check your work from Friday. The answers are attached. Please look for you mistakes and correct your work. Next you will look at the lesson for today (Lesson5-4). Go through it like we do in class. Copy definitions and do the examples in your notebook. Next complete p 241 -242 #s 1-12. Complete the problems showing all work in your notebook. Take a picture of the notebook work and turn in to me for credit. I am also attaching a file which should help you to submit your work to me. Please use it to help you. I am finding work in many different places. It is hard to locate it. Many of you are turning in your work in the comments section. No one should be able to see your work but me. Also I am sending another attachment about the work and the pictures of work that I am receiving. Please read this. Lastly, there will be a form for you to fill out.

Correct your work from yesterday with the answers provided. The problems are actually worked out if you did not get them right. Complete the assignment listed on the attachment and submit.

Watch the slide show and do the assignment at the end. If there are definitions to copy for vocabulary, you must do it.
You are to complete the examples and problems at the end in your notebook like you always do at school. I should not see work on crumpled looseleaf. Work should neat. You must put your name, the date and the assignment at the top. Number the problems, copy the problem, show me the work and the answer. When taking a picture be sure to show all of the work. Many were missing the last problem today. Also be sure that you don't send me an assignment for another class, I received what looked like a religion assignment today. It also may be helpful to put on some more light. The pictures were very dark and hard to see. Mr. Bonura said it is okay to use your cell phone to take the picture if that would be more helpful. Please help each other out concerning the taking of pictures and submitting. Your assignment must be turned in by 9pm.
